Area Police
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for details.
An important political figure commented the attack left him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
